Meiofauna improve oxygenation and accelerate sulfide removal in the seasonally hypoxic seabed


"Oxygen depleted areas are widespread in the marine realm. Unlike macrofauna, meiofauna are abundant in hypoxic sediments. We studied to what extent meiofauna affect oxygen availability, sulfide removal and microbial communities.
